Invenia Group has partnered with a venture-backed startup currently looking to hire a Chief Development Officer for their growing team. The company has built a computational platform that translates complex layers of biological data, into meaningful evidence-based guidance for drug discovery programs and offers tremendous scope for success and impact, to be a critical part of the leadership team and build out their internal drug discovery pipeline.

Role responsibilities: 

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will oversee and develop the company’s internal pipeline portfolio. You will be a critical part of the leadership team building the company from its earliest stages. This role is remote but will become hybrid in the near future. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee internal pipeline development to treat untreatable cancers
  • Develop and execute pipeline strategy from target discovery through to regulatory filings
  • Build a team to support pipeline development activities
  • Create a budget to meet or exceed company goals
  • Develop and execute asset IP strategy to ensure a strong portfolio
  • Work with regulators to design IND package
  • Support business development activities, e.g., make key connections within the industry
  • Support the founding team in fundraising activities, e.g., presentations to potential investors
  • Present pipeline strategy and updates during governance meetings

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with drug development experience at a large pharmaceutical company and a track record of leading oncology programs through IND and into Phase I trials. You should have experience designing and implementing strategy, building a team, and strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred qualifications also include:

  • Overseen programs in Phase II and beyond
  • Program(s) overseen resulted in an FDA approved drug(s)
  • Participated in successful fundraising or acquisition for a biotech startup
  • Participated in pharma projects that were partnered with a startup (either as part of the startup or the pharma company)
