Do you have a Master’s degree or higher in biology or a related subject, as well as at least 5 years of legal experience in patent prosecution and IP strategy?

Role responsibilities: 

If successful, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of creating and protecting the intellectual property assets of the company’s platforms and programs. This includes patents, trademarks, copyrights, etc. You will also be responsible for the following: 

  • Evaluating and executing the process for US patent applications, and direct foreign patent filings
  • Responding to patent office challenges started by third parties
  • Work in collaboration with their scientists to maintain and grow their IP portfolio and educate them about best practice
  • Providing legal counsel to the whole company regarding all IP matters
  • Reviewing the IP of potential initiatives as part of licensing deals, collaborations, and strategic partnerships
  • Keep up to date on industry developments concerning the IP landscape of their competitors and potential partners, and advise the business on any changes

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with a Masters or higher in biology or a related subject, as well as at least 5 years of legal experience in patent prosecution and IP strategy. You should be a registered Patent Attorney and have prior experience protecting technologies and novel platforms in the context of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and/or other diagnostic applications, as well as the following:

  • Expertise with U.S. patent law and a thorough understanding of foreign patent laws in major jurisdictions
  • Experience in other IP disciplines, particularly trade secrets is desirable
