Invenia is working with a rapidly expanding specialist cell-engineering company to hire Scientist based in Maryland. The company manufactures a platform that helps researchers in the cell engineering and therapeutics space.

This is an exciting time to join as you will be supporting them through the next phase of growth and the commercialization of their technology and products. This position has been created due to growth.

Role Responsibilities:

If successful, you will join a growing, collaborative team of 17 scientists. This role is a unique position designed to gain a deeper insight to what is happening to the cells after going through their equipment.

For this role there will be a lot of autonomy and encouragement to think outside the box.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify different methods for transfection; design and carry out experiments for this;
  • Collaborate cross functionally and provide input and ideas where needed (Teams include stakeholders, R&D, Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality Assurance);
  • Optimize existing and new instrumentation and technologies;
  • Prepare and review technical documents for patent applications, regulatory authorities, contractors and collaborators;
  • Develop, modify and review SOPs, protocols, process development and technical reports;
  • Maintain documentation throughout entire development process.

What we are looking for:

For this position, we are looking for someone with a masters / Ph.D. in a subject related to biophysics, biochemistry or biomedical engineering.

The ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of cellular biology and expertise in applying chemical, electrical and physical processes for cellular manipulation.

They will ideally have experience with some of the following techniques:

  • Imaging e.g., confocal microscopy
  • Tracking labelled molecules
  • Expertise in membrane biology or transfection
  • Mammalian cell culture
  • Electroporation experience especially in an ex vivo environment
