Are you a proven leader in service management within medical devices, clinical diagnostics, or life sciences?

We’re seeking an experienced UK Service Manager to work for a leading Instrumentation manufacturer. You will be responsible for a large, high-performing team, driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction across the UK.

About the Role:

  • Oversee all aspects of instrument installation, maintenance, and technical support, managing a team of 4 team leaders responsible for 40 engineers, the tech support team and the service admin team leader.
  • Directly manage 5 technical support staff providing 1st-line customer support via phone and email.
  • This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week on site at the company’s Hertfordshire site and 2 days WFH.
  • Lead day-to-day service operations, ensuring high performance, continuous improvement, and strong collaboration with sales, technical support, customer service, and finance.
  • Drive service revenue and operational efficiency, meeting business targets and KPIs in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Implement new initiatives to standardise and enhance service delivery and customer experience, working closely with EMEA teams.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing service teams in a relevant sector (Life Science, Clinical Diagnostics, Medical, etc) —no junior candidates.
  • Strong track record in team and instrument performance, financial management, and delivering measurable results.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with experience handling demanding customers.
  • In-depth understanding of service activities, KPIs, and revenue impact.
  • Open-minded, adaptable, and able to work as part of a wider EMEA team.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and work from home as needed.
