Invenia Group has partnered with an innovative and value-driven, venture capital-backed biotechnology company that is pioneering a transformative platform to manufacture gene-based therapies. The company is now seeking a Chief Business Officer with substantial experience forming partnerships with biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, to report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and work closely with the entire leadership team.

Role responsibilities:

The successful CBO will lead the end-to-end business development process. You will own the alliance management function; cultivating strong relationships with partners and monitoring biopharma industry trends, relevant deals, and the competitive landscape to maintain cutting-edge knowledge. You will develop and maintain a deep understanding of the scientific, engineering, hardware, and software elements that underlie the platform and represent the company externally at industry and investor conferences.

You will also collaborate with the CEO in identifying long-term commercial opportunities for the platform including new internal initiatives, partnerships, joint ventures, acquisitions, etc, build and manage a world-class business development team requirements, as well as the following:

  • Sourcing and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities
  • Managing inbound partnership inquiries
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key leaders at biopharma companies
  • Conducting diligence
  • Negotiating contracts and executing deals
  • Establishing the first clinical manufacturing deals with biotech companies

What we are looking for:

We are looking for someone with an MBA – with a focus on the healthcare industry strongly preferred, 12+ years of experience in leading and negotiating biopharma business development transactions of consequence, as evidenced by a robust deal sheet and a proven track record in partnering and alliance management, with a history of closing high-value biopharma deals.

You should have an in-depth knowledge of product and deal valuation, corporate development, and financial analysis, strong relationships with a sizable network of business development contacts at biopharma companies, a polished executive presence, keen interpersonal skills, nuanced business judgment, and high emotional intelligence to adeptly navigate and negotiate complex contracts with preferable terms.
